| 1980's ... 1990's RC flying UK ... Thought it was about time I dug out the old cine films and converted for Youtube .... I was directly involved / active RC flyer in those days in Competitions, Fly-Ins, Displays etc. So here are a few of the ones so far uploaded ... more on way ... (please note originals are Super 8 cine film) My Midget Mustang Formula 40 Pylon Racer ... first trials fitted with optional sport U/C ... later I removed for competition work ... Then we have a general sport day at Beaulieu Airfield South Coast ... Helicopter Fun Weekend that included many pioneering names .. so I wonder how many YOU can recognise ? Then we have the Beaulieu Scale Competition that I was lucky enough to place 8th overall beating many Magazine well known faces !! As I say - I have various other stuff to upload and will over time ... I hope this look back can stir up some of the nostalgia for some of us ... I know it brought back a lot of memories for me ... Most of the crash is fine - it's the last mm and second that's not !.... Ex Model Display flyer returning to hobby after 25yrs in the wilderness !.....http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Flysky_RC_radio/ if user of FlySky Radio where I hope to collect together helpful data | |||

| RE: 1980's ... 1990's RC flying UK ... No vids - you had to be David Bailey then, but these pics come from 1950 - that's yours truly on the right on Hounslow Heath, our regular flying site. We had to stop every so often to let the Stratocruisers coming in to Heathrow. | |||

Later Sandown meet ..... LMC persuaded me to buy a Mirage 2000 !! I know which one I prefered !! Most of the crash is fine - it's the last mm and second that's not !.... I have a pal who has a DVD company ... he converts literally anything you throw at him ! IC Video ... Here's one the very early Sandown Shows .... I'm pretty sure it was the second one held .... It was either this show or the year later that 'a' twin engine job hit the final marker when coming in on a low pass !! Most of the crash is fine - it's the last mm and second that's not !.... I don't know what my friend Eddie had there, Tony, but mine was a Junior Monitor by Mercury, which I think was fitted with an Elfin 1.8 diesel, the motor of choice then! The other picture is of a Frog Vandiver, powered by the ubiquitous Mills 1.3. I'm puzzled myself by this picture, as it seems to suggest I had lead-out guides on the outboard wing, which is weird, because I've never flown in clockwise circles. B | |||

Really cannot be certain ... but Mick Reeves, Phil Ramsay, Ken Binks and all were there ... I attended the first and early years but that's all I can say - as to exactly which year it started etc. ? I would guess that the Vid is about '84 ... '86 ish... actually thinking about it - I think that was the year I bought the 2.8i Capri '85 model new. So maybe it's 1985 .... but I wouldn't put money on it. But I am sure it's year 2 of the '1980's style show. Most of the crash is fine - it's the last mm and second that's not !....
