Any ideas for a good 2 channel indoor heli?
The other day I went to my friends house and he'd gotten a new indoor helicopter, 2 channel, which charged from the remote. It was translucent-black plastic and had flashing LEDs within it, blue and red. It flew like a dream - turning left slowed it down and right sped it up, and soon we were flying around the room. Unfortunately he's dumped the box though and doesn't know the model's name. I've tried google searching for it and can't see it, unfortunately.

I went to the shops today trying to buy something similar, and bought a 'Picoo Z' indoor helicopter, 2 channel, and have to say I'm very disappointed. It's polystyrene so incredibly light and very sensitive to changes in throttle, and the thing's so badly balanced and such that it doesn't even move forwards unless I blu-tak it. Furthermore it runs for about 3 minutes max and needs 15 mins charging.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a 2 channel helicopter which they know is good? I'm so disappointed with this Sad

Many thanks, guys

Nope, sorry! It is grey/black translucent and it has legs/stands like this I think: http://img.alibaba.com/photo/100611997/S...copter.jpg

I can't remember what the tail was like, I think it was quite slim, but the tail rotor itself I think was in a circular hole as it is in this helicopter:

This is from memory though!

Oh and the controller was black - a rectangle flicked upwards when you wanted to charge, about the size of a pair of nail clippers, and you put the helicopter on the top of it to charge!

Many thanks

Oh and you know how loads of helicopters these days have 2 sets of blades on the top that counter-rotate? This one DIDN'T, it had just 1 set of blades, and then 1 of those smaller things above that looks like a gyroscope e.g. like http://site.exceedrc.com/resource/product/50h01-22.jpg

If nobody knows what it is then could they recommend a good copter for flying inside easily?
Thanks! Big Grin

There are hundreds of these things around, so it could be anything, most 2 channel are really limited or simply junk. Its difficult to recommend anything in that category, how much are you looking at?

The pico z was novel when there was little else, but every thing has moved on now. The latest and by far the best (in its size) is the Eflight mCX but at £79 I am gussing this is a long stretch away for what you are expecting. http://www.aeroshack.co.uk/shop/gbu0-cat...cheli.html

Oh ok, thanks! OK well I think you're right, I think I should go for a more expensive model like the one you linked. Is that generally the best regarded around that price range?

I would have to say yes (at that size) and is one if not the most supported in respect of parts (very important)which are very cheap to replace. There are a whole number of slightly larger ones around and not much more expensive, but if its in the house you want then this has to be the favorite because you can actually fly around a room rather then just hover and creep, (unless you own a very big house) Big Grin

I was just wondering how one would go about getting extra parts for the MCX?

If you mean spares etc, then there are lots of people do them (inc Aeroshack just hasnt put them up yet Big Grin). Literally every part can be purchased as a spare from one supplier or another in the UK.

This is the difference between a known product with an established brand, and the many fly (for a while) cheapo's that flood the market (although you cant really include the picco as that did have a large following at one time).

The mCX is probably one of the most supported micro helis out there.
