Anyone still flying a Sailplanes Int Ridge Racer?
Hi,

I'm resurrecting a Sailplanes Int. Ridge Racer model. I've calculated the C of G point to be around 25% in from the leading edge. However when balanced and test glided she nosed in !! This model is around 25 years old & don't recall having any issues like this then. Current wing loading 12oz/sq.inch.

If anyone is still flying this model I would appreciate some guidance on the following:-

C of C point
All up flying weight
Suggested wind speed conditions

Thanks

Ridge Racer was one of my early slope models

25-30% CG should be OK
But she's No floater
Needs a good Slope and Stiff Wind to fly well
I don't recommend any Test Glides Exclamation

All up flying weight , can't remember
Mine had so many repairs I retired it due to being Overweight Big Grin

Good luck

I had their Ridge Recruit .... as the line of models was sold by Solent Sailplanes many years ago ....

Eggshell fuselage as I remember. But beautiful machines, if a bit on the heavy side.

Like the other guy - so many repairs and FG bandaging and it was retired .... but not before adapting fuz to take 144" thermal wings and giving it a flat field spell.

Eventually I binned it, cut and modded the wings to provide new for a power model I had which it's wings had given up. replaced it with a Chris Foss Centi Phase with semi-symet wings - now THAT was an excellent machine and flew on rails.

Most of the crash is fine - it's the last mm and second that's not !.... Ex Model Display flyer returning to hobby after 25yrs in the wilderness !.....http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Flysky_RC_radio/ if user of FlySky Radio where I hope to collect together helpful data

Not exactly relevant but I've just resurrected my old Ridge Runt. It's been in the loft for years but a bit of work with the iron straightened the wings. The fuz was made of bulletproof grade balsa and it always bounced without damage. Must take it to the slope and make everyone laugh.............
