Carbon Core EMax

Carbon Core EMax
This has been an ongoing project for some time now.
I had an earlier version made back in 2009 which has been flying without any issues for two years on the Scorpion 4035-400Kv, 11T pinion and 12S 4500’s.

This is my EMax (for newcommers) – At the time there were few choices in 12S eHelis and I wanted something with the CG much closer to the rotors for better cyclic. The kit is based on the Quick UK VMax as I wanted to keep all the Push-Pull levers to unload the servos if I ever decided to re-build it as flybarless.

I keep adding to the virtual model as I only originally intended to just design a frame but it turned into a bit of a hobby and now I’ve nearly drawn the whole thing!

Next I’m wondering if I should go to the Scorpion Commander OPTO ESC and try to find reasonable 2S LiPo servos, since the Rx and gyros are already 7.4V compatible.
But the cost of the HV servos may offset the cost of the JIVE with the inbuilt BEC.

I’m going to be trying the 4035-330Kv motor next with a 12T pinion.

Not how well, but How.

Your 3D drawings are impressive and now a video, you should charge for those skills Wink

Do you plan to release a kit for other to build a similar heli?

Too bad stupid isn't painful.

RE: Carbon Core EMax
I like the design of the heli... everything up near the rotor disk.

I like how the tail servo is mounted at the rear of the body - and is not mounted on the tail boom... It looks like the push rod would be pretty central to the boom as well? I notice theres also a push rod support too.

My only suggestion would be:

Those carbon fibre plates on the sides of the batteries... to enlarge them to the size of the battery just to give a little more protection in a crash.

And as Rich asked, will you be selling this as a kit?

To repeat what others have said, requires education; to challenge it, requires brains.

Hi RArch & Young Gun!

Yes I was just thinking of making the battery panels longer!

The tail pushrod is not central to the boom - it runs in as straight line from the tail servo to the bell crank.

Yes I'm aiming to have a conversion kit with hardware, carbon landing gear, the new Scorpion 4035-330Kv motor with new shaft and pinion, with ESCs on sale in the next few weeks.

Carbon Core E-Max Preview

The Carbon Core E-Max is an alternative to the Thunder Tiger Raptor E720 and Align TRex 700. Based on the Quick UK V-Max with full push-pull levers on all cyclic servos and designed with the Scorpion HKIII 4035 motor and Volt-On PolyQuest 12S Lithium Polymer battery mounted as close to the rotor head as possible for effortless cyclic handling even with the flybar version. This version is with the Kontronik JIVE 80+ HV ESC rated up to 150Amps. Scorpion ESC version to come.

The battery clamp now covers two 6S 5000's and secured with two velcro loops leaving all the high-power wires at the very front of the model and away from the receiver.

Hi RArch

I really am too busy this summer and still working on my flying. There's a lot fo club events and BBQ's to go to and I'm trying to stick to regular working hours. Although I was up at 6 this morning and flying for 8, and will probably still be online tonight after midnight (on a Sunday).
