WOW these look great. Your Dad has talent and the patience of a saint to make these. I wonder if that twin diesel is hard to start.

PS: I renamed a few files so that the forum could display them correctly, the brackets were causing the problem.

Too bad stupid isn't painful.

Always a pleasure to see what a craftsman can produce ,,

I guess he makes the crankshafts and pistons too.??
I am intrigued about the screwheads under the cooling fins,
they must be tightened first, before fitting the cylinder,?
so what/how is the cylinder retained in place,
how about a photo his workshop,?

ready 4 blastoff,

I was wondering that too, but I think the head is screwed on like a big nut... maybe.

he makes the lot, I think the only thing he doesnt make is the 4 screws u guys are talking about, everything including the tanks he makes on his Myford Lyth and Milling machine in his little shed.
The head unscews your right, then you can get to the screws.
I'll have a word with the Old boy and see if we can get some pics of the engine in bits, he enjoys repairing all types of engines, if he can get hold of an original engine,or drawings he will measure the parts and sort it.
For all you old boys out there his first engine was a four stroke, he got an award for at the Model Engineer Exhibition at Wembley, not got any pics to hand, but it was installed in a Ben Buckle Majestic Major, large model.
Theres loads more engines hes made, if your interested I'll get some more pics and info from him.

Your dad's engines are first class pieces of model engineering. I love the twin Mills, I bet that sounds great. Looking at you surname, I think I know your father by reputation. Derek Giles is a bit of a legend amongs those of us who have an interest in the vintage side of model aircraft, is that your dad?
