| Electric Control Line Stunter I have finally flown my electric stunter, it flew last Sunday and was also flown by Tony Smith. it is a 80% size copy of the Frank Warburton U2 built with a profile fuselage for simplicity. 1100cm span and weighing 1kg all up with battery. The motor draws about 25 amps and turns a 10x6 prop on a 3s lipo. I fly it on 50' lines and at the moment it flies fairly fast so I need to reduce the pitch on the prop maybe to an 10x5 or 11x4. I will experiment over the next few weeks weather permitting. The timer attached to the ESC is set for about a 4 min flight which draws about 1750 ma out of the 3200ma battery so I have the capacity for about 6 mins. | Electric Control Line Stunter Hi Richard, On the first couple of flights Tony was the pit man, but I have now set the timer for a 30 sec delay to the start up so I can get to the centre. So it can now be flown as a solo operation. Hector Hector | |||

| Electric Control Line Stunter I cheated with this one, using a single channel on a tiny GWS rx for throttle control only. No good for competition, of course, but it allows me to fly in glorious isolation! Attached Image: ![]() 71.92 KB Brian | |||

| Electric Control Line Stunter Oh 30sec count down before take off... Hope you get back to the take off spot before you run out of time, it could be comical (from some) to see a control line plane running of into the grass for the next 4 minutes or so Too bad stupid isn't painful. Your contribution helps | |||

| Electric Control Line Stunter Your right Richard, but I do walk very carefully to the centre having already made sure that the lines are clear, I know one day it is going to cause a comical scene as I try to get the model under control. It will happen as I get lazy and confident. Brian what size is your model, and does it have reasonable performance, I've got a Peacemaker with a PAW 19 and my electric model has at least the same performance as that so I suppose in the right hands would do the full schedule, so I'm really pleased. Electric Control Line Stunter Quote:Originally posted by hpiercey Hector, it's 600mm span (Depron sheet size!). The performance is not bad, it will do most non-square aerobatics, but the line length is restrictive. This spring I want to build something lighter, bigger, and desperately overpowered, so it's back to the drawing board. I will probably fall back to traditional balsa and built-up structure, 'cos that's what I know best!. There is a previous thread on this model on http://www.rctalk.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4345 Brian | |||

Electric Control Line Stunter Quote:Originally posted by Tony Smith lol! No, Tony, the Light Donker was a predecessor, and was actually a converted 'And Now', which I called the 'Not Now', and the celebrated donking incident was the result of a wingover when the light was slightly lower than the line length! Incidentally, that was pre-LiPo, and the power was down the lines from a massive 10-cell subC pack strapped to my belt, with an on/off switch on the c/l handle. Make do and mend, y'know. In fact, the light came off better than the model. | |||
