| FlightStreak Having had a rush of err .. um... 'strange stuff' to the brain I bought a FlightStreak kit not having flown control line for years. I have a new unrun Merco 29 stunt thats been lurking in the cubhoard since the age of the dinosaurs and thought that would be a good match. It's just for a bit of fun flying... Two questions: What size fuel tank for the Merco 29 would you suggest ? What line thickness for this weight of plane / engine. ? Regards Tony | |||

| FlightStreak Long, long time since I did control line. Used to use lightweight Laystrate for most things, and heavyweight for a 35 powered stunter. Try - http://www.iroquois.free-online.co.uk/lines.htm or do a search on Laystrate. I believe there is a big control line group in the Peterborough area. Hope you've got a good silencer for the Merco, the days have long gone when we all flew on open exhausts. Good luck, don't get too dizzy. Ray in Wales | |||

| FlightStreak Thanks for the reply, looks like heavyweight lines just to be safe with a .29 and was thinking about 60ft length ? Anyone any ideas on fuel tank size for a sensible length flight without dizzying myself out ! Regards Tony | |||

| FlightStreak Only suggestion on a fuel quantity, is measure the amount you put in for the first flight. We used to use the old oval mustard tins, or solder up a tin plate one of a similar size. There should be small see thru plastic fuel tanks, (clunk bottles), about now, could you strap one of those to the fuz?, would also let you see whats inside. Do a search on 'control line fuel tank', there are some (edit - genuine c/l tanks)for sale on ebay. Ray in Wales | |||

| FlightStreak Brian Don't know if this is way too late - but you don't need genuine heavyweight Laystrate for a 29 powered model. Provided the ends are properly made lightweight is plenty strong enough. As to tank size - I used to use 100cc tanks for Meroc 35s and OS 40s whihc gave enough time for the F2B schedule (maximum time allowed 7 minutes) so something that size or a tad smaller will be fine with a 29. If you are already circulating - all the best Mike | |||
