Flybar ... alternative material ?
Trex 450 SE V2 ..... (clone) .....

When will someone come up with a flybar material that is more suited to the job ?

Thin metal rod is IMHO prone to damage without even crashing .... any touch ... even when I've moved the 450 - I've caught the flybar and that's another one bent.

Is there any other flybar available ? One that is not so easy to damage ? I realise that you don't want something that is too strong as then you damage something else ... but present is ridiculous !

Most of the crash is fine - it's the last mm and second that's not !.... Ex Model Display flyer returning to hobby after 25yrs in the wilderness !.....http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Flysky_RC_radio/ if user of FlySky Radio where I hope to collect together helpful data

Have you tried a real 450 flybar yet? Only asking because I have a few friends with real ones and havent heard them complain that this was an issue especially in transit. Mind you I think most carry them in cases.

Planes are meant to crash, otherwise they'd have feathers

As Dave suggests it might be worth trying an Align one if your not currently using one - the clone ones are made from softer metals...

However - even the align ones can get bent if you "man" handle them so to speak...

The only way to aviod a fly bar is to get a flybarless head - but thats another kettle of fish!

IT'S FINE !!!

Flybars are easy to accidentally bend - just bend them back with your fingers!

The metal used is OK for the job.

Carbon at that thickness is too bendy, and although would never get bent without springing back, it could get snapped easily.
You don't really want anything lighter on a 450 heli because that would just make it less stable and more twitchy.

Other metals like stainless steel are just heavier and more expensive without being any more resistant to hanger rash.

My 90's got a 4mm flybar and they can still get bent in the car. - I just bend them back straight enough. I'm sure they all straighten out in-flight!
