Brill....Exclamation

I downloaded loads like this from the Pathe News Site.
Just do a search on the Pathe site for model aircraft
lots of free flight,CL pulse jets, huge crowds....

Lot of Hanworth stuff...( full size)

I don't have crashes, just mid-airs with the planet.............

I cant get over how people were content in those days with free flight and rubber power, of course that€™s all there was!. A bit like the radio gear with push button controls, long telescopic aerials and things called crystals.....oops Big Grin

Another thing that struck me is how many of the models seemed to be badly trimmed and unstable, bucking and diving all over the place, swerving off to one side, and stalling into the ground. I'm sure my Ajax flew better than that! Blush

i wonder if the bulk of aero enthusiasts had a complete grasp of the dynamics?

even with the knowledge i have learned if i was asked to make a free flight design it would be a task and a half to get it to fly level and trouble free!
