Piranha - 3D Hydro Plane
I've held back on posting about this plane (is it a plane Exclamation]) until I had more info and that we had tired it out. All I can say is we are having a lot a laughs and fun with this, you've got to try it out for yourself.

Sam was first to get his built and into air last week for some pre tests. We took his to Model EXPO 2005 at the NEC Birmingham where we put it through its paces and have a video which I will post later.

Heres some pictures of the painted version before we built it.

Yes Big Grin

A little more expensive but should save you time, the white ones are there for people who want to paint their own.

ahh just 3 squids more - would probably pay that if not more on paint anyhow. Union Jack should be a dragon though Wink

I've just had a white one of these delivered today! Some glueis drying as I speak Wink

I was wondering if anyone knew if the instructions were available in English anywhere? I'm not too good at speaking Czech! If anyone has english instructions, would it be possible for you to scan them in?

In the mean-time, what powertrains/servos are people using?
Cheers
Andy

Piranha - 3D Hydro Plane
hi all!

im having great fun with this boat plane thingy!

i got it on thursday and had it ready for its maiden flight on friday - i could'nt wait! i wanted to get it trimmed and tuned ready for the model expo at nec birmingham at the weekend. it went really well zooming around on the grass. then u add alittle up elevator and whoosh, its flying!!! i could'nt believe it flew so well with such a strange shape.

i found out that everytime i landed abit hard, the prop would hit the grass and rip the motor from its mount. a simple mod i did was adding an extra spar (2mmm carbon rod) where the original spar is glued. (i will add pictures of my mods very soon!)

during the demo flights at model expo, we found out that a great motor and battery combo to use is the freeair 23/8/12e brushless motor with gws 8x4 hyper prop powered by 3 cell 640mah kokam lipoly (this combo was used in the video).

robotbirds has just had a fresh stock of new cells rated at 730mah which has a c rating of 20-thats 14 amps!!!, this battery would be great and should give even more power.

well us guys at robotbirds are still messing around with different combinations of motors and batteries for even better performance so we'll keep u posted!

this is one crazy foamy and i love it!

l8rs!

i love helis, its better than telly, they fly so high, way up in the sky, then i want food in my belly!
