| j3 piper cub grass hopper I recently bought a 3ch j3 piper cub grass hopper as a first plane I,ve practiced for a few month on a simulator ( plane master ) and can fly the grass hopper no bother. When i go outside and try and fly the piper cub thats when i have trouble the trim tabs are all set battery fully charged if i try to hand launch it into the wind it seems to crash nose first not sure what am doing wrong even with the elevator lever pushed forwards it nose dives. Any advice please on what to try next. Thanks mark Happy flying. markharwood | |||

| j3 piper cub grass hopper You ought to check your elevator for correct action. Back stick (ie pulled towards you) should give up elevator. As Richard says, if the nose drops pull the stick back. | |||

| j3 piper cub grass hopper Regarding hand launching, if you can get someone else to do it for you. If not then when you throw it, observe the following, Don't throw it up into the sky, throw it nice and level. Its needs to be a quick throw but smooth and level also. Sometimes it helps to "step forward" as you throw it to increase the speed of the throw. But as a first timer its better if you can get someone else to do it OR take off from the ground if poss. Also, Make sure your controls are all correct before atempting to fly. To repeat what others have said, requires education; to challenge it, requires brains. | |||

| j3 piper cub grass hopper I have just become interested in RC Planes since it is getting close to summer, after looking around on internet sites,(i looked at gliders and beginner planes) and after practising with it on PlaneMaster i came to the conclusion that the J-3 Piper Cub would be a good investment for a starter plane... However since then i have discovered there is a similar variant called the E-flite Piper L-4 Grasshopper with a park 250 motor. Would this be a better starter purchase than the piper? z-t-s | |||

| j3 piper cub grass hopper as a complete novice, i was warned off any pipers as the prop breaks and the motor shaft bends beyond repair when you hit the ground which you will do as a learner. i was told to get a foamie with a pusher prop such as the hawk sky . roger | |||
