| powering receiver and servos in gliders Hi , Aonther newbie question. I am used to putting full electric planes together and fully understand the electronics involved. But what about gliders, sloap soarers specificaly. Do you need a regulator bewteen the receiver battery and the recevier? obvoisly no ESC is needed because there is no motor, but this is where the regulator is built into in all my planes. | powering receiver and servos in gliders No just a 4.8v 4 cell Nimh or 6v 5 cell Nimh will do the trick, normally used as part of the ballast/weight balancing of the glider. | |||

| powering receiver and servos in gliders ...an ESC has a BEC in it - which is what powers your servos/RX. You can buy "UBEC"s, which are units that can connect to your battery (i.e. Li-Po), which will then power your rx/servos - you can choose from 4.8V or 6v systems. An example of one is here: http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/sho...p?id=28725 You could just use a nicad - but Li-Po is another option with a UBEC. To repeat what others have said, requires education; to challenge it, requires brains. | |||

I used to design and build them in my last job! Thanks Chris Piper Super Cub P-18 TrainerStreet Fighter BF 109fPhase3 Mustang P51DPicooz

[/quote] Might just make one, I think I have a coupe of National Instruments Switching Regulators lying about. You only need a diode, few capacitors and an inductor and you got yourself a reglator. Make a linear one and its even cheaper. Depends if I have the time. Chris Piper Super Cub P-18 TrainerStreet Fighter BF 109fPhase3 Mustang P51DPicooz

| powering receiver and servos in gliders Still cheaper and easier to use one of these guys. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RX-Receiver-Pack-4...35a206023d | |||
